AWARD CRITERIA

Each year, East Kootenay Volleyball Club offers two Serve & Succeed Award opportunities to current EKVC athletes who have achieved post-secondary athletic recruitment in the sport of volleyball, and who have demonstrated dedication to the support of EKVC, fellow athletes, and /or their community at large.  Student-athletes recruited to post-secondary institutions to play volleyball may apply for the Community SPIKE award as well. However recruitment status is not taken into consideration in the selection criteria/ process for the Community SPIKE award and an application for both awards must be submitted to be considered.

A minimum of one Award will be awarded per year if the eligibility criteria are met.

1. Eligibility Criteria:

• Current Grade 12 graduating student (Application is open to students at all East Kootenay Regional High Schools)
• Past and / or present athlete affiliation with East Kootenay Volleyball Club
• Confirmation of post -secondary recruitment (Serve & Succeed only)

 2. Selection Criteria:

Eligible applications will be reviewed for selection based upon Leadership, Service, Mentoring and Sportsmanship: (see Scoring and Qualifying Selection Criteria below.) *

• Contribution to EKVC programs and activities through service to the club or community (e.g., coaching assistance, officiating, camps and tournament support, fundraising, etc.)
• Contribution to the support of fellow EKVC athletes through role modelling of sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership.      

3. Application Procedure:

1. Complete the online Serve & Succeed Award Application.  

2. Include one letter of reference (teacher/coach/or personal)

3. Submit completed application. You will receive a confirmation email that the application has been submitted.

4. Completed Applications must be received by 11:59pm May 31st of the year of graduation to be eligible. Late submissions are not accepted.

4. Selection Process:

• Selection will be by EKVC Award Committee

• The successful applicant(s) will be notified by email by June 15th

5. Release of Funds Procedure:

Serve & Succeed Recipient(s) are to provide EKVC treasurer a signed note from their coach confirming roster status by October 1st.  Payment will be issued directly to the recipient by way of cheque in the recipient’s name.

Public recognition of the Award Recipient will be acknowledged on the EKVC website and on social media. Successful recipients will be asked to submit a photo and bio.
