WOW! What a finish in Winnipeg! Huge congrats to our EKVC 14U Girls Blue for an incredible 11th place finish out of 104 teams at the Volleyball Canada Nationals! They kicked off Sunday's playoffs with a dominant straight-set win over Blitz Crushers (Yorkton). Their amazing Nationals journey came to a close after a hard-fought battle against BCO Black (North Vancouver), where they showed incredible determination. We are bursting with pride for how these athletes represented East Kootenay Volleyball, Cranbrook, and Kimberley on the national stage! They head home from Winnipeg with a 4-4 tournament record, capping off a massively successful 2025 season that saw them go 23-11 overall. What an achievement!

The 14U Girls White volleyball team delivered an inspiring performance at the Provincial Championships in Calgary, finishing 2nd in Division 5.
The team displayed outstanding skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, earning a spot in the medal rounds and capping off their season with a silver medal. Their growth over the season has been exceptional, and the Provincials showcased just how far they’ve come.
With strong teamwork and high spirits, the players wrapped up an unforgettable season on a high note, making their coaches, families, and community proud.
The EKVC 14U Girls Blue team delivered a strong performance at the Volleyball Alberta Provincial Division 1 tournament, held April 26–27 in Edmonton, earning a top 10 finish out of 135 teams from across the province.
The team closed the tournament with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses. They were placed in a very challenging opening pool, facing off early against the eventual silver and bronze medalists. Despite a closely contested and heartbreaking tiebreaker loss that left them third in their pool, the team rallied in the playoff round—winning two out of three matches and securing a 10th place overall finish.
The EKVC 14U Girls Blue team now holds a 2025 season record of 19 wins and 7 losses. With Provincials behind them, they look ahead to competing on the national stage at the 14U Volleyball Canada National Tournament, taking place May 9–11 in Winnipeg.
Our EKVC U16 Boys left it all on the court in a hard-fought bronze medal match against the Dinos. After a strong start and a thrilling three-set battle, they came up just short. While the medal slipped away, their determination and teamwork shone through every point!
After a season of ups and downs, the 15U Girls Blue team came out on top—taking 1st place in the Blue Playoffs at Division 4 Provincials in Edmonton! These girls played with heart, hustle, and true team spirit. They're riding the momentum and ready to bring the heat at Nationals this May!
The 16U Invermere girls had a standout weekend at Premier 3, competing in Division 4. The team went undefeated in pool play, showcasing strong teamwork, energy, and consistency throughout the tournament.
Their impressive run continued into the playoffs, where they battled their way to the Division 4 finals. After a hard-fought match, the team came away with a silver medal finish — a well-deserved reward for their efforts and dedication.

The 16U Blue team delivered a strong performance over the weekend at Premier 3 in Division 3. After coming out on top in their pool, the team advanced to the Quarter Finals, where they faced a tough opponent and narrowly missed a spot in the semifinals.
Refusing to let the loss define their weekend, the team rallied to win their next two matches. Their determination and teamwork earned them a 5th place finish overall, successfully securing their position in Division 3 for the upcoming Provincials..

This past weekend, the 14U Girls Blue team competed at the Alberta Volleyball Premier 3 Division 1 tournament in Red Deer, showcasing their continued strong play this season. The East Kootenay team finished in the top 10, standing out among the top 32 teams from across the province.
During Saturday’s pool play, the team went undefeated, securing wins over clubs from Spruce Grove, Medicine Hat, and Edmonton. In their first playoff match, they faced a tough challenge, losing a closely contested 3-set battle to the St. Albert Thunder. However, the team bounced back with impressive victories in their next two playoff matches, including a thrilling come-from-behind win against Canada West from Calgary.
With a final record of 5 wins and 2 losses, the team earned a solid 10th place finish. The players are now focused on preparing for the Alberta Provincial Division 1 tournament on April 26th and 27th in Edmonton.
The 14U Girls White Team had an incredible time at P3 in Lethbridge this past weekend! The team played with heart, displayed exceptional teamwork, and truly brought their A-game. Finishing 5th overall is a fantastic achievement, and everyone’s performance was something to be proud of!

The 16U Girls White team delivered an outstanding performance, capturing the gold medal with a display of impressive growth and spirit, closing out the weekend on a high note.
Meanwhile, the 16U Girls Blue team put up a strong fight in Division 3, finishing 3rd in the Black Playoffs—just missing out on advancing to Division 2 for Premier 3. With their momentum building, the team is eager to continue pushing forward in Division 3 at Premier 3 in Calgary.

The EKVC 14U Girls Blue team displayed remarkable teamwork and resilience this past weekend at the Premier 2 Division 1 tournament held at the Genesis Centre in Calgary, finishing in 4th place.
The team started strong during pool play on Saturday, going undefeated with impressive wins over YYC Eagles White (Calgary), ACE Okotoks, and Dome Defenders White (Calgary). Their collective hard work and strong team dynamic were evident as they powered through each match.
On Sunday, EKVC 14U Blue Girls advanced to the semi-final after a thrilling 3-set victory over SLVC Wave (Sylvan Lake). In the semi-final, the team faced the eventual gold medalists, the Dinos from Calgary, in a back-and-forth battle that showcased their unwavering determination and teamwork. Despite pushing hard and fighting for every point, the team came up just short, losing in three sets: 27-29, 25-20, and 15-13.
In the bronze medal game, after the emotionally taxing semi-final, the 14U Blue team faced a strong Lethbridge team. Though the team fell in straight sets, their commitment to working together and supporting one another remained evident throughout the match.
With an impressive 11 wins and only 2 losses so far this season, the 14U Blue team continues to grow stronger with each tournament. The team looks forward to their next challenge at the Premier 3 Division 1 tournament in Red Deer on March 29th and 30th, ready to continue pushing forward as a unified and determined team.
The 16U Boys Team had an outstanding performance at the Premier 2 event in Edmonton this past weekend. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they earned a bronze medal in Division 2, securing their place in Division 1. The team's incredible teamwork and determination set the stage for even greater challenges ahead.

The 13U Girls Blue Team had an exciting and memorable weekend in Vulcan, Alberta, competing in a challenging 13U tournament with 16 teams. This marked their first-ever triple ball experience, a game known for its skill-building benefits. Despite facing ups and downs, the team demonstrated impressive progress and resilience throughout each intense set. Finishing 9th out of 16 teams, they gained valuable experience and a true sense of the competitive volleyball scene. We are incredibly proud of their determination and hard work!
The East Kootenay Volleyball Club 14U Girls Blue team started the 2025 indoor season on a perfect note this past weekend going undefeated and taking home the gold medal at the first Alberta Premier tournament held in Calgary. The team, which entered the tournament as the number one seed, won all seven of its matches without losing a single set. The club showed strong and consistent team play throughout the tournament.
During pool play on Saturday the team posted wins against clubs from Trochu, Taber and Red Deer. Then in the playoff bracket the East Kootenay girls swept their way to first place with wins over a team from Medicine Hat and three teams from Calgary. This culminated with a 2 set sweep of Calgary Canuck Black in the gold medal match by scores of 25-19 and 27-25.
The gold medal to start 2025 follows up their bronze medal at the provincial tournament to close out the 2024 indoor season. The team, comprised of players from Cranbrook and Kimberley, will look to continue its strong play this season at the second Premier Tournament March 8-9 in Calgary.
We are thrilled to announce that Mia Molnar has brought home the gold from the Girls 16U Canada Cup, marking Team B.C.'s first gold since 2016. This monumental achievement showcases the incredible talent and dedication of Mia and her teammates.

We are beyond proud to highlight the incredible accomplishments of the 15U Kootenay Zone 1 team at the BC Summer Games!
For the first time in over 20 years, our region has brought home a medal in Girls Volleyball, capturing the Bronze in a truly inspiring performance. This milestone is a testament to how far we’ve come as a Volleyball Region and marks a significant victory against the traditionally dominant Big 5 zones.
The Zone 1 team showed tremendous grit and determination throughout the tournament, coming back from a set down in the Quarters, stunning the eventual Gold medal winners in the Semis, and clinching the Bronze in a hard-fought match against Fraser Valley.
Huge thanks to FVC coach Andrea Reed, Nelson coach Michelle Hillaby, and all the BC Games staff and volunteers for their incredible support and effort. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without you!
