EKVC Scholarship Information

Each year the EKVC offers a scholarship to two male and two female athletes who have significantly contributed to the success of the EKVC and who are attending a post-secondary institution as a full-time student athlete in the sport of volleyball. Preference is given to those who show financial need.

2009-2010 Scholarship Application Information

2008-2009 Recipients

All four recipients have credited being involved with the EKVC as contributing to their current success in post-secondary volleyball programs. 

Women:

          
          Allison Pepper                      Sarah Luscher

Allison Pepper participated in the EKVC program for four years. In addition to being involved in volleyball as a player, Allison has also helped coach both at a pre-season summer camp and at Mount Baker Senior Secondary during the regular season. She is currently playing for the Women’s Avalanche Volleyball Team at the College of the Rockies where she is enrolled in University Transfer courses.

Sarah Luscher began playing for the EKVC beginning in 2000 and played for five consecutive years. She is presently enrolled in the nursing program at Lethbridge College and plays for the Kodiaks varsity volleyball team. Her passion for volleyball has carried her to various degrees of success within the sport. Last year she was the recipient of the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Award attaining a 3.87 GPA and she presently serves as captain of the Kodiak team. Sarah enrolled in and was successfully certified in a 4 month coaching class and has on many occasions volunteered her services as referee for high school tournaments. She is now in her tenth year of playing volleyball at the organized level.

Men:  

         
   Brett Holmgren                 Graeme Pepper

Brett Holmgren was a key member of the volleyball club for six years, beginning in Grade 7 through to Grade 12. Once his tenure as an athlete ended, Brett immediately became involved in the club as the coach of the U14 boys. He will coach the same group again this season as U15 players. Brett is in his second season with the College of the Rockies Men’s Avalanche Volleyball Team. He is enrolled full time at the college in the Associate of Science Program, specifically in Medical and Health Science.

Graeme Pepper was involved with the EKVC program for two years during high school. He is currently a first year middle for the College of the Rockies Men’s Avalanche Volleyball Team. He has had many memorable moments on the volleyball court and enjoyed coaching the Grade 7 volleyball team at Laurie Middle School for two years. Graeme is currently enrolled in the Heavy Duty Mechanics program at the college.
