EKVC Scholarship Information Each year the EKVC offers a scholarship to two male and two female athletes who have significantly contributed to the success of the EKVC and who are attending a post-secondary institution as a full-time student athlete in the sport of volleyball. The deadline for applications for the 2010-2011 Scholarship is November 15, 2010. 2010-2011 Scholarship Application Information 2009-2010 Recipients All four recipients have credited being involved with the EKVC as contributing to their current success in post-secondary volleyball programs. Women:
Allison Pepper played for the EKVC for four years. In addition to being involved in volleyball as a player, she has also contributed to the club as a coach. Allison has coached at pre-season summer camps and also co-coached the 14U Girls EKVC team in 2009. The EKVC is happy to have Allison back again as the 14U Girls coach for the 2010 season. Allison is currently playing for the Women’s Avalanche Volleyball Team at the College of the Rockies where she is taking University Transfer courses. Rachel Cohen began playing volleyball with the EKVC when she was 14 years old and played for four years. She was also active in school volleyball playing for the Selkirk Storm. After graduation Rachael enrolled at the College of the Rockies where she is taking pre-nursing courses and plays for the COTR Avalanche volleyball team. A highlight of Rachael’s volleyball career was her trip to Israel as a member of the Canadian volleyball team that placed third in the Maccabiah Games. Men:
Sam Scott played for the EKVC for four years and also for Mount Baker Secondary School. After graduation he enrolled at the College of the Rockies where he is a member of the COTR Men’s Avalanche volleyball team and is in the welding program. Sam’s current involvement with the EKVC is as co-coach of the 16U boys’ team for the 2010 season. Sam is also an avid beach volleyball player and plans to participate in tournaments throughout BC this summer. Tristan Taylor played for the EKVC in 2001 until his graduation in 2005. He was the recipient of the Most Improved Player award in his first year of College with the College of the Rockies. Tristan also coached the EKVC U17 Boys in 2007. He has gone on to play for the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC where his team has won bronze and silver in Provincials and fifth place in the CCAA Nationals in 2008/09. Tristan is a fifth year Middle and is graduating this year with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and English minor.
